Driver of motorcycle in critical condition

SKANDIA -- A Negaunee Township man is in critical condition after a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon.

According to the Michigan State Police, 43-year-old Michael Ryan of Negaunee Township was driving his motorcycle northbound on U.S. 41 when he collided with a pickup truck.
    
The driver of the truck, 73-year-old Patricia Johnson of Skandia, was traveling eastbound on Townhall Road and was crossing the highway at the time of the collision.

Michael Ryan was transported to Marquette General with a head injury.
    
Thirty-eight-year-old Sonya Ryan, also of Negaunee Township, was a passenger riding on the motorcycle.  She was treated and released for her injuries.
    
The driver of the truck, Patricia Johnson, sought her own treatment for minor injuries.
    
Both motorcylists were wearing helmets, however, Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation.
