HOUGHTON -- Prospective students made their way to Houghton Saturday to learn a little bit more about Michigan Tech.

Hundreds of high schoolers and their families attended the open house this morning to take a look at some of the different programs the university offers.

Officials were on hand at different booths to answer questions and hand out literature.  Officials hope that events like this raise awareness that there is more to Tech than many people think.

"There is a lot more going on here; world class programs in a whole range of fields--visual and performing arts and sound and design and theater, technical communications programs, activities in the whole range of the social sciences and humanities," said Bruce Steely, Michigan Tech's Dean of Arts and Science.

Students also had an opportunity to check out some of the projects sponsored by Michigan Tech and get some hands-on time in the labs.
