ONTONAGON -- An Ontonagon county man could spend the rest of his life in prison for allegedly attacking a 29-year-old woman over the weekend.

Fifty-five-year-old Paul Herbert Gauthier is charged with assault with intent to murder.

According to the Ontonagon County Sheriff's Department, the incident early Sunday morning was considered domestic violence, but the investigation showed it was more than that.

No details are being released.  Officials say no weapon was involved.

The Ontonagon woman was living at Gauthier's home at the time of the alleged attack.

Gauthier is in jail on a quarter million dollar cash bond.
