DELTA COUNTY -- A downstate man is walking his way through the state for a good cause, but not with his feet close to the ground...he's on three-foot stilts.
Neil Sauter started his journey about seven weeks ago in Toledo, Ohio and has traveled over 600 miles so far. He's walking to raise money for United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan.
So far, he's raised over $15,000 through sponsorships and donations along the way. In addition, he'll get a federal grant which promises a three to one match.
"I just actually started walking on stilts last summer, and part of the reason that I wanted to make this trip was because I got a scholarship that was related to having cerebral palsy. When I took that, I thought I wanted to do something to give back when I could. This is sort of my way of giving back the generosity that was shown to me," said stilt walker Neil Sauter.
He hopes to end his journey in Ironwood by June 28.
