ESCANABA -- The economy may be struggling nationwide, but that isn't stopping one entrepreneur from starting her own business in Escanaba.

Cynthia Wakefield opened her coffee shop, Biggby Coffee, nearly two weeks ago in downtown Escanaba.  Her goal was to not only serve a great cup of joe, but also to give patrons a great environment in which to enjoy it.  The customers seem to love the idea, making her first week unexpectedly busy.

"Usually when something like this opens, it's sort of a slow burn to build, but we've built very quickly," said owner of Biggby Coffee, Cynthia Wakefield.

She is still going full force and plans on expanding the coffee shop to include an outdoor patio.
