Permits are being questioned.

LANSING -- A court hearing is underway in Lansing on permits for Kennecott's copper and nickel mine in northern Marquette County.

Opponents want an administrative law judge to invalidate those Department of Environmental Quality permits.  They say the mine would degrade the environment.  The DEQ gave Kennecott the go-ahead in December.

If the judge sides with the DEQ, opponents of the mine could then file a lawsuit in circuit court.
