GLADSTONE -- The city of Gladstone is asking the public how they can improve the city's economic development success.

They're asking the public to attend a town hall meeting at the Gladstone Sports Park on Monday, March 11. The meeting will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

They're giving away a free TV to a lucky participant, and all they're asking for in return is your input.

Frame Farm has been in business since 1982. They don't have a lot of competition. They're only one of two stores in Delta County that offer custom framing. Other stores, like the ones along the 800 block, haven't been so successful. Frame Farm owner, Debra Chase, say it's a domino effect.

“You're going to see some decrease in your business when two or three businesses go out when they're down the road from you," explained Chase.

The business owners rely heavily on foot traffic. Customers who buy something at one store will often get in their car and go shopping at another store as well. City officials are hoping at least 10 percent of the 5,000 Gladstone residents show up to Monday’s meeting.

They want to know, how can we keep more businesses open? Four businesses have closed on Delta Avenue.

“I've noticed that when some of the restaurants closed up that those people who were going to have breakfast on a Sunday, they're not coming in on Monday or Tuesday and saying, 'I saw something in your window that my wife liked or my husband liked,'" Chase explained.

She’s hoping more area businesses open soon. And so are customers.
