HOUGHTON -- A common gift people receive for Christmas, a gift card to their favorite store.
What people may not know is that there are certain restrictions on using some gift cards. While many cards are able to be used on just about anything, customers need to read the back of the card to see what restrictions there are.
At JC Penney in particular, gift cards do not expire, but do have some limitations.
"There are a couple restrictions with gift cards. One thing you can't use it for is to pay on your JC Penney card. You can't use a gift card to buy another gift card, and you can't return a gift card for cash value," said JC Penney Store Leader, Danielle Ventre-Olson.
Most gift cards have a toll free telephone number on the back customers can call with any questions.
