MARQUETTE -- A record number of visitors browsed through the works of artists at Marquette's Art on the Rocks this weekend.

Organizers say about 10,000 people paid visit to the event. The artists were locally and nationally recognized, some coming from as far as Arizona.

Best in show? Tim Peters of Florida who makes porcelain vessels and tiles.

"The ideas for our designs come from everywhere we've been in the country," said Peters. "From Cadillac Mountain to the Uintas Mountain, Olympic Peninsula even the plains of Florida, the hill country in Texas. When we do a carving, we remember the feeling of that part of the country and then carve that feeling."

Art on the Rocks wrapped up around 5 p.m. Sunday.
