IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Homeless Housing work group took time to help out other less fortunate members of the community.

The meeting is for their Community Connect event which will be Friday beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Northern Lights YMCA in Iron Mountain.

The event will provide any residents that are living in poverty an opportunity to be connected with a number of local agencies that have services for people needing financial assistance.

"We will have door prizes available, we're giving away a laptop, we're giving away various baskets of personal hygiene care items.  We also will have a store there so when you go through the event, when you're done, you can go shopping at the store for free," said RSVP Director Kristin Sommerfeld.

Organizers want to get the word out and encourage community members who are in need of assistance to attend.
