MARQUETTE -- The Great Lakes Center for Youth Development is hosting a series of workshops aimed at improving efficiency for businesses and non-profits. The workshops use the Lean strategy made popular by Fortune 500 companies like Boeing and Motorola. The strategy eliminates waste in the workplace and makes small manageable improvements to efficiency. The Center for Youth Development is hoping it can help local non-profits with the Lean principles.

"I hope to teach some of these things to non-profits throughout the U.P. so maybe we will have a Boeing example of our own in the U.P., where we were able to work with a non-profit and help them achieve an important milestone with the same resources they have because they're using them more efficiently," said Amy Quinn, President Elect of the GLCYD.

The first workshop is Tuesday at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $25 for members, $45 for non-members. For more information including how to register, click here.
