MARQUETTE COUNTY -- What could be better than winning money?

How about winning $10,000 because you saved money?  That's what happened to ten people across Michigan.

Those ten lucky winners each received a $10,000 check, courtesy of the Save to Win Program.  The program was launched in 2009 and is designed to appeal to credit union members who have difficulty saving money.

For every $25 deposit, any member enrolled in the program earned one entry.  Two of the winners were presented with checks Tuesday, one at the U.P. Catholic Credit Union and one at the Ishpeming Community Federal Credit Union.

"Oh my gosh.  I was shocked and so surprised! I had to keep it quiet for a while, and I couldn't tell anybody and it was really hard," said U.P. Catholic Credit Union winner, Kathy Grisham. "We plan to keep it all local here and do some home improvements."

"Feels good," said Ishpeming Community Federal Credit Union winner, Scott Magnuson.  "Probably put a new roof on my garage," said Magnuson.

If you would like to enter to win for 2013, you can start a Save to Win account at your local credit union.
