MARQUETTE -- Even with blowing snow and low visibility out on the roads, there's one service that keeps on running.

Checker Transport of Marquette runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once the cab is warmed up and brushed off, it's time to head out and pick up customers.

On a day like Tuesday, drivers will be picked up from anywhere.

"Typically the storms are a normal day for us," said Checker Transport GM Jeff LaValley. "We do slow down. We ask our guests and riders to give us a little extra time. We do the necessary precautions, like all of our vehicles have brand new snow tires every year."

With a dozen cabs and 16 buses, Checker Cab officials said that on average, they transport between 150 and 500 customers a day.
