HOUGHTON -- For a small business, having a website can greatly improve your company. But not every business website shows how great a company's service really is.

The Marketing Department in Houghton is having an Ugliest Website Contest to find which business has the ugliest website. The contest is open to businesses in Keweenaw, Houghton, Ontonagon, and Baraga counties.

The winner will receive a free website makeover from the Marketing Department. The marketing department says the contest is not meant to poke fun or degrade anyone's business, but rather to help improve a business that is truly deserving.

“Our community really survives with small businesses,” said account manager, Brad Aldrich. “We think it's important that maybe they can get a more global outreach with their website. So we thought it'd be fun to put this contest on and help our local small business owners reach out maybe further, not only in our community, but regionally and maybe nationally.”

Website links can be sent to ugliestwebsite@marketingdepartmentinc.com. Submissions will be taken through March 15.
