NEWBERRY -- With more snow on the ground, tourism is already increasing in parts of Upper Michigan.

The Knollwood Inn and Family Restaurant in Newberry has, so far, seen more tourists this year than last year.  The Inn often caters to snowmobilers; many of them are from out of state.

The staff thanks the snowfall from mid-December for a recent increase in visitors.  Leon Normand is optimistic that tourism is looking up this season.

"Encouraged is probably the best word.  We're looking at a winter weather pattern that's probably better for snowmobiling, and that's just nothing but good for us," said Normand.

Newberry and the rest of Luce County will see another surge of visitors this weekend for the Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race.
