CHOCOLAY TWP. -- A Chocolay Township community group is looking to the public for help fundraising.

The Chocolay Township Lions Club will hold its first annual community-wide garage sale October 13. The group has begun collecting various household items, appliances and clothing, and they're looking for more donations.

Organizers say the money is needed to fund the group's community activities, including its upcoming Halloween party on October 31.

"We need money," said Pat Selleck, an organizer of the garage sale. "We are a philanthropic organization, and the more people help us donate, the more we can help the people in return."

Items not sold will be donated to charities in the area.

The garage sale takes place next to the Citgo gas station in Harvey on US-41. It begins at 10 a.m. on October 13 and runs until 4 p.m.

The sale will continue October 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Anyone interested in donating items should contact Selleck at (906) 250-4006.
