NEGAUNEE -- It's a grand opening celebration for Hanna's Tea Times in downtown Negaunee. 

The owner, Maryhanna Ockerman, invited friends, family, and local business owners to the ribbon cutting Wednesday morning. The tea retail shop sells many teas from around the world. Ockerman wants to educate the U.P. about new teas and expand the palate of tea lovers. She also makes many of her own tea blends. For about a year, Ockerman has been selling and catering tea out of her home, but with the help of a neighboring business, she now has her own shop.

"Preparing was the big thing. It was kind of just a tan and dark green. It wasn't very visible from the road, so I got yellow paint and white trim, and fixed it all up and kind of made it my home," said Ockerman.

Hanna's Tea Times is at 327 Iron Street. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day this week, then on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting in October.
