ISHPEMING -- More than 300 Croatian chicken dinners went out in Ishpeming this Sunday.

Proceeds from the event help the Technology Department at Birchview Elementary School. Teachers say the department is raising money to buy document cameras and LCD projectors, all of it an effort to promote interactive learning.

"Our students now they're hard wired to be interactive, to have things move and be dynamically engaged in what they're learning," said Anne Asplund, a teacher and one of the organizers. "And we need to reach the world, so we need to be able to go into the Internet quickly and seamlessly and bring them as much resources as possible."

Meal tickets cost $10 for half a chicken and $7 for the quarter meal.
