LUCE COUNTY -- The cost of fighting the Duck Lake Fire in Luce County is now estimated to be at least $3.8 million, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

The 33-square mile fire was finally fully contained Wednesday, three weeks after it was started by a lightning strike.  It destroyed 136 structures, including homes, outbuildings and campers.  No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire will push the DNR over its budget for firefighting this year, but on Wednesday the state house approved a bill to provide the DNR with additional financing.

If you're a fire victim and you need help, you can call anytime. The daytime number is (906) 228-3559 and the nighttime number is (906) 235-4697.
