Crews from the Marquette and Alger County Road Commissions are working from both ends of the highway to clear drifts as quickly as possible while maintaining safety. Several hours of work remain before the highway can be reopened.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, M-28 between Harvey and Wetmore is closed as of Tuesday afternoon.
MDOT said that the closure could last throughout the night and the cause is blowing and drifting snow.
The Michigan State Police told people on Tuesday morning to stay off M-28 and M-94 between Marquette and Munising due to several accidents and drifting/blowing snow.
According to the MSP, visibility is very poor due to blowing snow and drifting. We will post more information as it becomes available.
