More than 60 bikers across 13 teams competed on exercise bikes in the second annual Bell Bike Race

ISHPEMING TWP -- It was a race to remember at Bell Hospital, but it wasn't the kind of race you'd expect.

More than 60 bikers across 13 teams competed on exercise bikes in the second annual Bell Bike Race. The event is a fundraiser for Bell's 'Strength From Within' program which is a health and wellness initiative for kids. Every team was asked to donate at least $500 and to raise pledges for more. From 9 a.m. until noon, racers would bike as far as they could for 25-minute periods, take a five minute break, and then switch racers. Judges would record distances between each break.

With no teammates, Marie Peasley traveled the furthest.

"The energy is high, the music is pumping, everyone is having a great time," said Jeff Nyquist, race director.

The event raised more than $5,000 for the program.
