MARQUETTE -- Our 30th annual TV6 Canathon officially kicked off Monday. From now until December 6, you can donate canned goods and other non-perishable items at a number of drop-off sites.

To date, people have donated 2.9 million pounds of food through the TV6 Canathon for their food pantries. Everything donated in a community stays in that community and helps pantries run by St. Vincent De Paul and the Salvation Army. With the holidays on the way, non-perishables are desperately needed.

"We just received today, 461 pounds to start off our canathon and what a great, great thing and that's what we really need people to step up and do this year," said Captain Joel Arthur of the Marquette Salvation Army.

Schools throughout the U.P. will also be encouraging students to donate. For the complete list of drop-off sites, head over to our website and click here.
