MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Marquette Township residents got into the holiday spirit Tuesday night with the community's second annual Christmas tree lighting.

The event kicked off with a performance by the Marquette Senior High School Chorale Society.  Even an appearance by the Grinch didn't stop the celebration.

The Marquette Township Fire Department escorted Santa to the stage to flip the switch on the Christmas tree.

"We had great success with people coming out last year, and it's just heartwarming to see all the families come out with the young children, and it's a wonderful family event, and that's what we like to promote in our township," said event chair, LeAnne Kachmarsky.

Following the lighting, crowds had an opportunity to go for a horse drawn carriage ride.
