A benefit dinner was held Sunday night to raise money for Judy Parrish and her family

The Upper Peninsula is showing strong support for a Powell Township woman fighting severe heart failure. Over $35,000 has been raised so far for 55-year-old Judy Parrish. Her heart is currently working at ten percent of its capacity, so she is waiting to get on a list for a heart transplant.

An outpouring of community support on Sunday night in Bay Bay, as efforts continue to keep a local woman's heart beating.
Fifty-five-year-old Judy Parrish was diagnosed with severe heart failure in July. As the Powell Township resident waits to get on a list for a heart transplant, her family is facing a pile of medical expenses.
Hundreds came out to the Powell Township Fire Hall Sunday night for a benefit for the family. The event included a spaghetti dinner, live music, a 50-50 raffle and silent auction items donated by local businesses.
"It's amazing," said Judy's daughter, Chelsea Parrish. "I can't believe how many people have shown up and how many people are sending their thoughts and prayers for all of this. They're hoping for a miracle."
