L'ANSE -- The Village of Baraga Treasurer charged with embezzlement appeared in Baraga County Circuit Court on Thursday morning for pretrial.

Forty-five-year-old Cynthia Wadaga is charged with embezzlement of more than $20,000, but less than $50,000 from First Choice Autobody in L'Anse last fall. This is a felony charge that carries a 10 year prison sentence or a $15,000 fine if convicted.

Wadaga has pled not guilty. Her trial date is tentatively set for June, and is expected to take as long as a week.
