HOUGHTON -- The Bluffs Senior Community in Houghton held its first annual Academy Awards Friday evening.

In honor of the Hollywood Academy Awards, the directors at the Bluffs wanted to put on a special ceremony for residents.

The evening included live jazz music and an awards ceremony to recognize each resident. Residents even got to walk the red carpet on the way in. Both the director at the Bluffs and the residents agreed that it was enjoyable for all.

"They all bring such special things to the Bluffs,” said executive director, Jessica Bracco. “We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to recognize them all."

"I've been here only since August, but it seems like I've been here for about three years,” said resident and “In-House Building Supervisor” award winner, Bob Leon. “Everybody's so friendly, and we have so many activities. It's really a nice place to be."

Residents were given awards for their own special qualities like "Best Laugh" and "The Super Yooper."
