HOUGHTON -- Congressman Dan Benishek says that he is focusing on jobs and education after he was reelected this November.

On Monday, Benishek was at Michigan Technological University hosting a roundtable discussion with educational professionals. They focused on the most effective ways to better prepare young adults, emphasizing the importance of science, technology, engineering and math.

"There are some jobs available here in northern Michigan, but some of the companies are having trouble filling them, so let's try to make sure that the people of northern Michigan have the skills they need to get the jobs that are available," said Congressman Benishek.

Benishek says he will take the information he gathered from the meeting and start working on an effective plan to help improve education programs in the Upper Peninsula.
