MARQUETTE -- In Marquette, the first snowflakes started to fall around 2 p.m.

For many it's a welcomed sight amidst all the brown dirt and barren trees.

One of the only spots to see any snow has been Marquette Mountain thanks to snow guns that have been running 24-7 since Friday.

The ski hill reported a good start on opening day on November 30, but it has been dirty and slushy this past week with warmer temperatures and very little snow.

For the ski hill, fresh snow is an immense help for daily operations.

"Everybody here is real happy to see it. They're all looking forward to finally getting some snow back on the ground and getting rid of this brown that we have all the way around the hill," said General Manager Vern Barber of Marquette Mountain.

Snowfall is continuing for Marquette and much of the rest of Upper Michigan.
