Early morning fire leaves 11 homeless

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- A house fire in the Keweenaw leaves 11 people homeless.

The fire happened in Franklin Township.

Eight juveniles and three adults lost their home on Rhode Island Road.

According to the Houghton County Sheriff's Department, the initial fire was contained by members of the residence, and one adult received minor burns.

Boston and Quincy-Franklin-Hancock Township Fire Departments responded to the scene around 1 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The American Red Cross was also on scene.
