MARQUETTE -- Save the Wild U.P. hosted an open house Tuesday to remind the public that they're still active in trying to preserve the environment. They're opening their doors to anyone who's interested in learning more about the organization and looking to help their cause.
Right now, their main focus is on protecting the U.P. from the mining industry, specifically the Eagle Rock site.
At the open house, they offered informational pamphlets about their efforts to preserve the environment.
"We need to preserve that beauty. Tourism is a big part of the economy up here, and people come here to see the natural pristine environment of Hiawatha National Forest, Lake Superior, all the U.P. has to offer, and we want to preserve that," said Heidi Gould of Save the Wild U.P.
The group is having another open house Thursday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
