NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- According to the Marquette County Health Department, 21 percent of people in the county are smokers.  To help reduce that rate, the Marquette County Health Department is helping people stop smoking.

They will be holding a free "quit tobacco workshop" Thursday.  The workshop covers various strategies and tips to help you create a step-by-step plan to quit.

"Some type of class or counseling and that can be by Internet, phone or face-to-face class.  Also with some type of medical aid--the gum, the patch or even some of the prescription medications--that are out there. That combination shows as the highest success rate," said Sarah Derwin of the Marquette County Health Department.

The workshop will be held at the Marquette County Health Department this Thursday at 5:30.
