MARQUETTE -- Families celebrated Easter with a massive egg hunt in Marquette.
It's an annual tradition of the Marquette area Jaycees to organize the egg hunt. The Upper Peninsula Children's Museum hosted the event. Hundreds of kids and parents searched for around 5,000 eggs between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Upon returning a basket of eggs, the kids received one bag of candy. The Jaycees provide the supplies, but the candy was donated by local stores. Volunteers helped run and bring order to the very active environment.
The children's museum waived their normal fee to make it free for everyone.
"We just want to make sure that all the kids have the opportunity to come in and see what kind of a great facility that they have here at the children's museum," Paul Schloegel, Jaycees co-president, said.
To top it all off, the Easter Bunny was making his rounds visiting children at the museum.
