IRONWOOD -- Last Friday the Josephson Nursing Home in Ironwood was taken over by the state.  Licensing officials say the nursing home was not able to meet its payroll, lacked a licensed administrator and was recently cited by the state with "immediate jeopardy" because 21 of the 24 elderly residents on Medicaid were not receiving adequate care.

The director of the Division of Operations within the Bureau Health Systems says the relocation team is currently on site.

"They are talking with residents and family.  They had a family meeting and the staff that's in there will access residents and find the best accommodations to meet their needs," said Director Roxanne Perry.

Officials say the current staff is still working at the facility and the residents are being taken care of.   No information in regards to the closing or continual use of Josephson Nursing Home was given, and officials would not say where the residents would be relocated.
