HOUGHTON -- The City of Houghton is celebrating Keweenaw Food Day.

The Downtown Houghton Business Association, Portage Health, the Library Restaurant, and the Houghton Police Department are joining together in an effort to get more people to eat healthier food and maintain a healthier lifestyle. They offered spicy popcorn, squash with yogurt, and apple cider.

"Across the nation we're all getting more health conscious," said Lt. Nick Roberts of the Houghton Police Department. "We want to get involved. We want people to see that we're healthy, too, and then hopefully we can get everybody in the community to start thinking a little differently as far as how they eat."

If you live in the Copper Country and you're interested in tasting some healthier foods, there's another opportunity at the Brownstone Hall in Atlantic Mine. The Harvest Feast starts Friday evening at 6 p.m. Tickets for the feast are $10.
