HANCOCK -- In honor of February being heart health month, Portage Health in Hancock is giving free health screenings. The screenings will be at the main campus hospital in Hancock, February 14 and 15.

Screenings include a check on cholesterol, blood pressure, and BMI. There will also be a special heart health presentation given by a cardiologist on the Feb. 20 at Houghton High School.

Portage Health encourages people to take advantage of the opportunity because many of the offers provide helpful information about your body's health.

“Finding out these screenings on an annual basis is very important,” said Portage Health community health coordinator, Angela Luskin. “Knowing your cholesterol, knowing your blood pressure on an annual basis is very important. It's just a good little snapshot on how our heart is doing.”

Appointments are required and are on a first come, first served basis. For more information on how to register, call Angela Luskin at (906) 483-1153.
