HARVEY -- Saint Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey hosted a suicide prevention workshop Sunday. The workshop highlighted the "Question, Persuade, Refer" program.

The Q-P-R program teaches how best to approach someone who might be suicidal, how best to keep them from committing suicide, and how to reach out to a professional with them.

Larry Boburka, a guidance counselor at Westwood High School, lead the workshop with a presentation and role playing.

"I thought it was really helpful. You don't really realize how little the signs can be. This helped a lot to understand it," said Ashley McIntire, Marquette Senior High School student.

If you think there is ever an emergency with a suicidal situation, Boburka says to dial 911, but other resources can be found at Dial HelpPathways, and through various church organizations like Lutheran Social Services and Catholic Social Services.
