MARQUETTE -- Blood around Halloween usually means something gruesome or scary. But that wasn't the case today.
Employees at the U.P. Regional Blood Center were taking blood from donors for the annual Halloween Blood Drive.
All of the nurses wore costumes to make it more fun for the donors and also to do something for any donors who might have had any fears about giving blood.
October is usually a slow month for blood donation because of the start of cold and flu season.
"For this time of year, this time of day, it's usually not this busy, so we are very happy to see all these people, all these blood donors coming in this morning and helping us celebrate Halloween," said donor recruiter, Sallie Coron.
This is the 30th year for the blood drive. It runs through October 30.
