GLADSTONE -- An ice fisherman was rescued by Gladstone Public Safety officials after falling through the ice at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Police reported that Gladstone resident Ron Trekas was out on the Little Bay de Noc ice near Butler Island when he had gone through the ice. He was standing on top of his submerged 4-wheeler and needed assistance getting back to shore, according to public safety.

The Gladstone Public Safety rescue hovercraft was sent to assist Trekas. Officials reported that he was treated for exposure concerns, but released from the scene. The 4-wheeler was recovered from the water.

Gladstone officials have urged people to use extreme caution when out on the ice.
