MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Pioneer Surgical in Marquette has made a generous donation to a charity. Staff members presented a check for $3,000 to Room at the Inn.
Room at the Inn is a charitable organization that provides food and shelter to the homeless during the winter months. Each week a different church in the Marquette area opens its doors to the homeless as a part of the program.
They had a small celebration at Saint Christopher's Catholic Church in Marquette Township Thursday evening.
The Pioneer Surgical staff voted to donate the money instead of having a Christmas party.
"It's very, very comforting to think that people were willing to give up a Christmas party to give to charity. It's just a great, great thing," said Helen McCormick, co-founder of Room at the Inn.
Room at the Inn will use the money for food, transportation, and other services for the homeless.
