Questions & Answers
Question

What are your credentials as an audiologist?

Answer

Michael O’Donnell has an M.A. in Audiology from Central Michigan University, a Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, and is licensed by the State of Michigan as an audiologist and a hearing aid dispensor. He has over 38 years of experience in several work settings.

Question

Who do you perform hearing tests for?

Answer

We test young adults through senior citizens. More often seniors since they are more likely to have hearing trouble.

Question

Will my insurance cover my hearing aids?

Answer

Most insurance companies do not cover hearing aids. Medicare/Medicaid do not cover hearing aids. Some better insurance programs may cover all or part of the cost.

Question

What is the process of getting a hearing aid?

Answer

See an audiologist and/or your physician. Your physician will rule out any medical conditions, and the audiologist will provide a hearing test in a sound treated room. He will discuss the results of your hearing examination and offer recommendations for different hearing aid solutions. There is always a trial period of 30-45 days with a new hearing aid.

Question

How do I tell my spouse that he/she needs a hearing aid?

Answer

Be very subtle about telling a spouse or loved one that they are missing out on too much. National statistics say it takes an average of 8 years for people to address their hearing problems. Don't waste 8 years of your life waiting to improve your hearing and quality of life.

Question

Do you sell hearing aid batteries?

Answer

Yes we do.  And we can clean and repair most hearing aids.

Question

How often should I adjust my hearing aids?

Answer

As often as necessary. Take the time to learn how to use the instruments properly and get help if you are having difficulties.
