MARQUETTE -- Marquette county has its first female Probate Judge. Cheryl Hill was sworn in before a packed courtroom in Marquette Friday afternoon. She replaces judge Michael Anderegg who served as probate judge for more than 30 years. Hill is a Marquette native who has been practicing law for 25 years and won the seat in the November election. She most recently served in the Marquette county prosecutors office.

"What I'm looking forward to the most is helping make sure that those who can't talk for themselves, and that's who the probate court serves, make sure that they get their stories heard in the probate court," said Marquette County Probate Judge Cheryl Hill.

Hill received a standing ovation after she addressed the courtroom. Following her investiture friends and family went to the Holiday Inn for her reception party.
