MARQUETTE -- The trial for an inmate who blames prison officials for his gum disease was set to begin on Monday in federal court in Marquette but has been rescheduled for June 18.

Jerry Flanory is suing over his time at an Upper Peninsula prison, claiming he was denied toothpaste, leaving him with gum disease.  The Department of Corrections denies his claim.

The state has rejected his request to be released early as a way to settle the case.
