GWINN -- Due to local demand, passengers utilizing Sawyer Airport will now have midday seat availability on both American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

American Airlines has plans to add a 1:40 p.m. departure to Chicago O’Hare effective June 12, 2013.  Two Saturday flights will also be added, providing greater flexibility in scheduling.

Delta Air Lines previously announced plans to add a third daily departure to Detroit effective March 2, 2013.

“We’ve made our case, and the airlines have positively responded,” commented Duane DuRay, Airport Manager.   “Now it’s up to the community.  Ridership and load factors will determine how long we maintain these schedules.”

“Much of Sawyer’s progress can be attributed/credited to those customers who continue to book flights from Sawyer.  We thank the community for their support and loyalty in considering Sawyer first before using alternate airports,” stated Steve Schenden, Director of Operations.

Delta Airlines will have daily departures to Detroit at 6:15 a.m. and Sunday through Friday, 11:50 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Their arrival times are 4:58 p.m. daily and 11:26 a.m. and 9:39 p.m. Sunday through Friday.

American Airlines will have departures at 8 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 12:30 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. on Saturdays.  They will have arrivals Sunday through Friday at 1:10 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. and 12 noon and 2:40 p.m. on Saturday.
