MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- November is Hire a Veteran month, and one local company received recognition for just that.

SCI Cleaning and Maintenance received the 2012 Hire a Veteran award.

Every year, Michigan Works recognizes one business within six counties for the number of veterans they hire.  This year, 25 percent of SCI workers are veterans.

"They have a work ethic. They're on time.  We know they have a decent background, and that's difficult in the workforce today--you don't find that everywhere." said SCI owner, Bill Fredy.

"It makes me proud to have a business in Marquette County that has excelled in hiring veterans. It's a very heartwarming feeling," said Marquette County Commissioner, Gerald Corkin.

Representatives from Senator Tom Casperson's office and U.S. Representative Dan Benishek also honored the business.
