MARQUETTE -- The annual Marquette Turkey Trot and fun run is coming up this Thanksgiving morning. The event raises money for the Marquette Senior High School orchestra. It features a 5-k and 10-k run, but you can also walk it if you prefer.

The run gets underway at 9 a.m. Organizers say it's a great way to work up an appetite for your Thanksgiving dinner.

"I get to see people just that one time of year at the Turkey Trot, the same people year after year after year. It's a family tradition for a lot of families, and it just feels so good to be outside and enjoying the U.P," said MSHS Orchestra teacher, Janis Peterson.

The cost for the run is just $10. It starts at the Marquette Senior High School canopy entrance. There will be ribbons and awards for the top finishers. Donation stations for the TV6 Canathon will also be set up at the Turkey Trot.
