'West End Winter Wonderland' fundraiser planned Saturday evening

ELY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - A winter wonderland is being prepared in western Marquette County for a brand new fundraiser this weekend.

The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the West End Winter Wonderland on Saturday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Wawonowin Country Club. The main attraction is a self-guided winter tour around the golf course on a groomed and highlighted snowy path, featuring various chamber businesses. Guests can ski, snowshoe, walk or snow bike.

Danielle LaCavalla, the chamber's executive director, explained how the idea came about.

"We have one of our board members who's the general manager of the Wawonowin Country Club and thought it was a great opportunity to get people to the Wawonowin Country Club and make it fun and also show off our chamber members," said LaCavalla.

Tickets are $30 for adults; $15 for people between 16 and 20 years old; and $5 for kids under 15. This covers the trails, food and drink tokens and music.

Ticket information is available through the link in the related links section in this story.
