MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) You may be able to watch a Red Wings game in Marquette next hockey season.

The city has been chosen as one of 10 finalists for the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest 2016. That's an annual competition to find the most hockey-loving community in America. Lakeview Arena has a chance to win the grand prize, a $150,000 for arena upgrades.

The winning arena will also host a preseason NHL game.

"We've got a lot of history here, we've got a lot of passion," said Andrew MacIver, parks and recreation coordinator. "This is an old barn that needs a little bit of help, but again, this is just a very passionate community. I think that we've got a very strong case for this."

Marquette is already guaranteed $10,000 for being a finalist. Next come three voting phases, the first of which opens Tuesday. You can vote up to 50 times a day on both your phone and online.
