MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The 29th Annual U.P. 200 Sled Dog Race begins Friday, and Wednesday afternoon, the race headquarters opened at the Marquette Holiday Inn. Board members and volunteers have information and handle race communications at the headquarters. You can also find this year's official race merchandise and the silent auction. The silent auction lasts until Sunday night, and the race banquet is Thursday night at the headquarters. Race organizers are glad to have everything with the race in one central location.
“I think it's extremely important that we're centralized,” said Linda Sjolund, a volunteer for the race. “Some other years we have not been all together, so it's nice to have everyone together. You can walk across the hall and see what's happening over the communication center or walk around the corner and go see the silent auction. Lots of great items.”
The U.P. 200 kicks off in downtown Marquette, Friday night.
