Summers announces run for 110th House District

L'ANSE, Mich. (WLUC) - A L'Anse man plans to run for the Michigan House next year as a Democrat.

Ken Summers announced his candidacy for Michigan State Representative for the 110th House District at the Baraga County Lumber Jack Days Festival last weekend. Rep. Scott Dianda, D-Calumet, is serving his third and final term due to term limits.

Summers says he filed his affidavit in Lansing on June 15 and has been touring the western Upper Peninsula since. He's stopped in Ishpeming, Ironwood, Houghton, Baraga, Greenland and Calumet.

Summers says he plans to continue Dianda's work. Summers explained the reason he decided to run is because he feels the western U.P. needs a strong voice in Lansing.

Summers says his priority in Lansing would be on community and families.

Summers could be on the ballot for a primary in August 2018, if necessary, and the general election in November 2018.
