UPDATE: Semi truck overturned on M-35, workers cleaning up spilled rubber

DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) UPDATE: The driver of the semi-truck that overturned this morning in Delta County was later transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital.

He will also be cited for careless driving.

The 51-year-old man from Milwaukee fell asleep at the wheel. He then over-corrected his actions and caused the truck to overturn. Clean-up occurred on the roadway, as the truck was loaded with shredded rubber.

Delta County Sheriffs were on the scene with an overturned semi truck near the Breezy Point Bar on the corner of M-35.

The driver of the truck, a 51-year-old man from Milwaukee fell asleep at the wheel. The driver then overcorrected, causing the truck to overturn.

The semi was loaded with shredded rubber, the rubber is spilled onto the roadway. Please use caution when driving in this area and follow the direction of the traffic controllers.

Cleanup crew are on the scene working to get the highway cleaned off and completely open.

Delta County Sheriffs were assisted at the scene by, Ford River Fire, Ford River EMS, Delta County Road Commission and Gene's Towing.
